The SV Carl, a German sailing vessel launched in 1893 and impounded in Cardiff at the start of World War I, met its demise at Booby's Bay, Cornwall, in 1917. While being towed to London for scrapping, a storm caused it to break free and run aground on the rocks. Attempts to salvage the ship were unsuccessful, resulting in its abandonment. The wreck's visibility fluctuates with sand levels, occasionally being exposed by storms but very rarely as much as seen in this photo.
I took this long exposure photo using a 35mm Carl Zeiss, Flektogon vintage lens which produces such wonderful colours.
Available now as a beautiful, framed giclée print, on 310gsm lustre finish, photo paper.
